This Weekend

I went to Portland on Saturday looking for the Etsy PDX craft fair. Unfortunately, their advertisement was incorrect when they said that the fair was open until 5. It closed at 2.
That was disappointing. Hopefully they will get it together!

The good things that happened:

  • I got to spend the day with my friend Tina.
  • I walked through the Portland Park Blocks. (Never been there before)
  • We walked at least a mile and a half!
  • We got to Portland Saturday Market about 15 minutes before closing. Just enough time to buy one thing but not enough time to get in too much trouble.

Tina and I parked at the Expo Center and rode the Max into town. It was Rose Festival weekend and there was more than the usual amount of traffic.

Sunday was a crochet meeting up in Longview. It was a lot of fun. It is not often that the meeting falls on a day that is totally open for me to go.

I found a new stitch. Joanna was/is making a book cover from it. It is called the lattice stitch.

I also started on my Cool Chicken for the amigurumi exchange I am doing on Swap bot. Craft Warehouse now has a line of nice acrylic yarn by Vanna White. Colonial Blue and Mustard are the colors that I am using. There were some cute star buttons, so I got those for the eyes.

Peep This

This amuses me.

What a Weekend

Saturday we had a great Crochet_Friends meeting. Kathleen, Kay, Pat and I met in the apartment common area and had steak! We also had potatos and veggies and dip. Yum! I baked some cookies and Kathleen brought angel food cake and strawberries. We were all so full that we did not get to eat any.
I got some Homespun Yarn for a blanket for my sister. Thank you! Pat also got some yarn to make baby sweater sets too.
(yarn pic here)
After that I went to see Tara play at the Indoor Soccer Arena right across from my apartments.
She kicked butt!

Sunday I was a bad girl and skipped Vancouver Fit. Instead I went to this great little craft fair put on by Lov Li at a place called RonTom's in Portland. I purchased some bird related items from a vendor called Karma's Kreations. I bought a necklace and a switch plate. I found some cute bird pins too.

There were about 30 different vendors. It was different and a lot of fun. I grabbed business cards from all sorts of vendors.

I picked her up at the vet's in Lake O on Friday. She does have invasive cancer and will live another 6 months to a year.
Minnie went back home to Tina's Sunday afternoon. I miss her. She is doing fine!

Must Remember

I find myself forgetting many things that I really want to remember. So here are some things that I found and did yesterday.

I listen to a podcast called Craft Sanity. This last episode was all about something called Craft in America. This is a three hour show that was on OPB last night. Here are the links.

I found this great little movie with cockatiels and the Star Wars theme.
Very cute!
Take a look and turn the volume up.

On Thursday, May 17th I went to my friend's house for dinner. Her budgie Minnie had a issue with her preen gland. It was huge! I "confiscated" her bird and took her to the avian vet in Lake Oswego on Monday the 21st. Dr. L put her on antibiotics for 10 days and scheduled her for surgery today at 9:30 am. I drove her over yesterday morning. It has been really hot here so I wanted to take her early to avoid any heat issues.
Here are some cute bird pictures. Minnie was not too happy about the camera.

I will find out more later today.
